Paul and I have fought side-by-side for 10 years to build a strong progressive movement and make our community a better place for everyone. He's exactly who we need on Beacon Hill to fight for a more affordable, dignified, thriving future for all of our neighbors.

-Zac Bears, Medford City Council President

I don’t give endorsements for State Representative lightly – running a podcast on state politics, I know too much for that. The truth is, the State House is a body with deep structural problems. Good ideas can’t move forward. Without the ability to navigate and challenge the system, even strong candidates end up ineffective.

That’s why Paul stands out. He has a clear-eyed understanding of how the State House actually works—and what needs to change.

Just as important, he brings something you can’t teach: a steady ethical backbone paired with sound judgment. He’s not someone who will go along to get along, and he’s not someone who will get chewed up by the system. He knows how to hold firm to his values while still working with others to move things forward.

That combination—clarity about the problem, commitment to changing it, and the ability to operate effectively within it—is exactly what we need right now.

Paul is a dedicated, passionate, hardworking, true civil servant that I have had the pleasure of working with closely over the years. He is incredibly thoughtful in his work and looks at challenges from all angles, putting countless hours into research and meeting with constituents to ensure he deeply understands issues and how to fix them. He is a fierce advocate for what he believes in, and, lucky for us, he believes in our local community.

What stands out most about Paul is his commitment to lifting up and supporting others, and turning ideas into action through clear processes and policies. When I was elected to the school committee, he didn't just offer congratulations; he showed up with a copy of "A Practical Guide for Newly Elected Officials." That kind of thoughtfulness matters, and it reflects his broader commitment to ensuring everyone has access to the tools and resources they need to succeed. Beyond that, Paul consistently makes himself available to answer questions about policies, rules, and procedures, most of which he has written over his 5 terms on the School Committee. He takes the time to explain things thoroughly, ensuring that nothing is left unclear. In a role where advancing complex regulations and policies is critical to serving Medford and Somerville effectively and equitably, having a representative who prioritizes clarity and accessibility is invaluable.

I am thrilled to be supporting Paul for State Representative. There is no one more laser-focused than Paul on the human impacts of policy decisions. There is no one who is more relentless about building better, safer, more affordable, more equitable outcomes for us and our neighbors. There is no one more willing to have tough conversations, make hard decisions, and confront thorny systemic problems in order to make our reality more reflective of our values. I have seen Paul prove this time and time again in his service for families in Medford. Now more than ever, our communities need and deserve his dogged, principled, results-driven leadership in the State House.

“Paul is a passionate leader who makes progressive ideas into reality by fighting hard for what he believes in and working for the people of his community every day. He is a special kind of visionary leader: one who not only dreams big, but does what it takes to make his dreams for a better future into reality. He started fighting for the people of Medford the day he decided to run for office and he hasn't stopped. If he can become the representative for the 34th Middlesex, I know he will never stop fighting for everyone in his district and everyone in the Commonwealth.”

“What sets Paul apart is the ability to turn good ideas into policies that actually work. He understands how to deliver solutions that have real, measurable impact. That kind of practical leadership is exactly what our community needs”

-Jenny Graham, Vice-Chair of the Medford School Committee

“Paul is a VERY dedicated school committee member, which is part of why I support him. He is all about the work and all about using his privilege and his skills in service to others, particularly the marginalized. There are people who are in Politics to DO something, and people who are in it to BE someone. Paul is the former, and I trust him implicitly. Being a mediocre state rep is easy. being a good one is really really hard, and Paul has the skills, values, work ethic and temperment to be a GREAT one.”

“I’ve worked with Paul for more than a decade, and one thing is clear: he delivers. From historic investments in our schools to making sure every student is fed, Paul knows how to bring people together and turn our values into real results that improve people’s lives and leave no one behind—even when things get tough. Medford and Somerville deserve his tireless, principled leadership on Beacon Hill.”

-Justin Tseng, Medford City Councilor

“I am happy to endorse Paul Ruseau for Massachusetts State Representative, an experienced leader, visionary, and advocate for all. Paul has brought initiative and commitment to equity to his 8+ years on the Medford School Committee where he wrote policies endlessly to modernize and systemize our public schools.”

“I've watched Paul show up for our kids for nine years — not just at meetings, but in the hard, unglamorous work of actually changing how our schools operate. He fought to make sure every student gets free meals. He pushed to raise teacher pay when no one else was willing to take that on. And when I've had a concern, he picks up the phone. Paul doesn't do this because it's his job. He does it because he's lived what happens when the system fails a kid, and he refuses to let that happen on his watch. Our families need that kind of fight at the State House.”
