Even before taking office on January 1, 2018, I understood that the most important activity of my first year in office was going to be the selection of a new superintendent of schools. I volunteered before taking office to work on the subcommittee developing the survey and brochure that would be used during the process.
Being selected by Mayor Burke to sit on the search committee was an honor and a vote of confidence. The search committee spent many hours preparing for the search, and then many more hours reading resumes and selecting the candidates to interview. It was a daunting task but somehow with so many people on one committee we all made it work with our schedules!
I was confident in the candidates we put forward to the full committee for consideration, and was pleased that we selected Superintendent Marice Edouard-Vincent to be our next superintendent of schools.
