After School Staffing

Updated: Jul 22, 2021

Our after school program has continuous staffing shortages.  Families depend on this program and the severe shortage of after school programs in our area means we must figure out how to solve this problem and end the wait lists. There are many reasons, such as the work hours, that these important employees are difficult to find.  However, I also believe pay is a major reason for staffing challenges.

I believe we can solve this problem by implement the following:

  1. Increase the base pay

  2. Add pay adjustments based on the number of years an employee has returned to do this work

  3. A bonus for staff that return each year and complete the terms of their employment

  4. Annual cost of living adjustments just like all other employees (usually 2-2.5% per year)
