Every child reading at grade level by the end of 3rd grade

I believe we can get every single child reading at grade level by the end of 3rd grade and this needs to be a major focus of the administration.

It goes without saying that being able to read is the most important skill a child needs to succeed in school.

There are many reasons some children do not learn to read easily, such as dyslexia and other disabilities.  It is time to put an end to the wait to fail model that is the hallmark of the American education system.  Early and systemic interventions and explicit teaching of reading must become the model in every classroom throughout our elementary schools.
